It began before COVID-19 at a stoplight one night during evening traffic. Drivers were putting on a sort of performance for me through my rear-view mirror with their expressions and actions during that brief pause in our commutes; commutes we don't make anymore. I'm a voyeur without permission, stealing intimate moments, watching the way the light touches their face and highlights their expression, something I no longer get to see behind the masks.I started Red Light Intermission as an investigation into self isolation in the digital age, in the age of COVID, this is now my only socialization.
